Statement

壁のしみを見るとき、シャツのしわを見るとき、窓に映る景色を見るとき——私はそこに〈絵〉を見ている。見ることは、描くことでもある。絵は、そうして始まったのではないかと思う。〈絵〉は何かに似ていて、何かは〈絵〉に似ている。私が〈絵〉を見るとき、〈絵〉は私の記憶や身体と照らし合い、ついに〈絵〉となる。〈絵〉は、私の鏡です。

When I look at stains on the wall, at the wrinkles in a shirt, or at the scenery reflected in a window, I see a “picture” there. To see is also to draw. I feel that perhaps this is how pictures began. A “picture” resembles something, and something resembles a “picture”. When I look at a “picture”, it reflects my memories and my body, and at last, it becomes a “picture”. A “picture” is my mirror.

宇呂映作 Urot Esak

記憶のメディアである写真を起点としたイメージ群の意味内容を改変し、混沌へと還元することを絵筆とした〈擬態絵画〉に取り組んでいる。京都市にあるスタジオ〈khôra 場〉のメンバー。参加展覧会に、khôra 場 Book Launch Exhibition（tata bookshop/gallery、2025年）、FLATLABO Q SESSION (FLATLABO、2025年)、 “No Brainer” curated by BY ONE PRESS（BaBaBa、2024年）がある。
